Arrhythmia Management Devices

چکیده
2799 According to a recent worldwide survey, current rates of de novo pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation are higher than those of previous years at >700 000 and >200 000 per year, respectively. Parallel to the growth in cardiovascular implantable electronic device (CIED) use, technological advances have led to new sources of electromagnetic radiation. Modern CIEDs utilize shielding, filters, and bipolar leads to mitigate electromagnetic interference (EMI). Nevertheless, EMI sporadically results in harmful consequences. Physicians attending to patients with CIEDs must be aware of typical EMI sources and strategies to prevent malfunction of CIEDs.

AANA Journal Course: update for nurse anesthetists. Arrhythmia management devices and electromagnetic interference.
The technological complexity of implantable arrhythmia management devices, specifically pacemakers and defibrillators, has increased dramatically since their introduction only a few decades ago. Patients with such devices are encountered much more frequently in hospitals and surgery centers, yet anesthesia provider knowledge of safe and proper management is often incomplete. Anesthesia textbook...
متن کاملArrhythmia management after device removal
Arrhythmic management is needed after removal of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). Patients completely dependent on CIEDs need temporary device back-up until new CIEDs are implanted. Various methods are available for device back-up, and the appropriate management varies among patients. The duration from CIED removal to implantation of a new CIED also differs among patients. Tempor...
متن کاملManagement of arrhythmias in the emergency department.
The authors present practical and concise advice on initial diagnosis and management of arrhythmias, on arrhythmia devices, and on syncope. There is discussion of tachyarrhythmias, both wide and narrow, bradyarrhythmias, and management of pacemakers and defibrillators. Common pitfalls and concerns are addressed.
متن کاملSignificance and Management Strategies for Patients with Asymptomatic Atrial Fibrillation.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common and refractory arrhythmia. Prevalence of AF increases with age. Asymptomatic AF is a state of asymptomatic episodes of arrhythmia and its exact prevalence remains unknown. Ablation and therapy with antiarrhythmic agents may predispose to asymptomatic AF. Detection of silent AF is crucial for prevention of ischaemic stroke. Progress in continuous ECG monitori...

1576 Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) save lives in patients at risk for sudden death attributable to ventricular arrhythmias, pacemakers (PMs) have been improving symptoms in patients with bradyarrhythmias for decades, and, more recently, cardiac resynchronization devices have improved mortality, morbidity, and quality of life for patients with heart failure. However, these devic...
متن کاملHow are arrhythmias detected by implanted cardiac devices managed in Europe? Results of the European Heart Rhythm Association Survey.
The management of arrhythmias detected by implantable cardiac devices can be challenging. There are no formal international guidelines to inform decision-making. The purpose of this European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) survey was to assess the management of various clinical scenarios among members of the EHRA electrophysiology research network. There were 49 responses to the questionnaire. ...
